Borussia Dortmund have announced plans for a virtual summer tour of Asia amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
With their original pre-season schedule in China and South East Asia scrapped due to the global virus, the BVB Virtual Asia Tour will reach fans in key markets through a series of alternative activations.
Asian fans will have the opportunity to virtually meet Dortmund players and watch livestreams of first-team training sessions online, while BVB legend appearances and a BVB Evonik Soccer Academy will engage supporters on location, in compliance with each country’s coronavirus protection measures.
“Many fans and partners from the region were in touch with us saying that they still wanted to get as close to the players as possible, especially in this most difficult of situations”, explained BVB Managing Director Carsten Cramer. “This inspired us to strengthen our digital communications from Dortmund to Asia in close cooperation with our office locations in Singapore and Shanghai as part of our preparations for the 2020/21 Bundesliga season”.
The tour serves as the latest move in BVB’s Asian expansion. Click here to see how SportQuake supported this growth, initiating a deal with the club’s first Chinese partner, Wurenbacher.
